Solaria leads photovoltaic solar energy production in Iberia and obtains EISs for 375 MW in Portugal

9 March 2023

Solaria has obtained favourable environmental impact statements (EIS) for its two plants Casal de Valeira and Vale Pequeno located in Portugal with a total capacity of 375 MW.

The achievement of these environmental permits, together with the 63 MW plants already in operation in Portugal, will enable the company to reach the target of 500 MW by 2025 in the Portuguese country.

This milestone also contributes to achieving Solaria’s strategic plan to reach 6.2 GW by 2025. The company already has full visibility of this capacity, which is aligned with the objectives of the European Union and its REPowerEU plan, which envisages the annual installation of more than 50 GW of solar energy, reaching 600 GW in 2030.

These projects of 375 MW in total will generate green energy for more than 200,000 households and avoid the emission of approximately 180,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

“These environmental permits are fundamental to meet our strategic plan to reach 18 GW in 2030 and ratifies our commitment to the environment. Our presence in Portugal is key to continue leading the energy transition in Iberia, which is so necessary in the current context”, says Mr. Enrique Díaz-Tejeiro, Chairman of Solaria.
